So what won?
"A Whole New World" from Aladdin. The Disney fangirl didn't surprise you, did she?
Two from a Disney movie, two from Whitney Houston's vehicle, and a random dark horse without a chance. I can't recall another year where it was 2 and 2 and 1. The poor Academy wanted to nominate "I Will Always Love You" so badly, but since that song had been written twenty years earlier, they were shit out of luck. So they did the next best thing by nominating two movies that aren't as good. Luckily, we aren't haunted by that craze and the right song won.
